Mr. Richard Dansby

Mr. Richard Dansby was born on June 02, 1935 in Lansing MI (Eaton Co) and died on April 26, 2022. He leaves to cherish his memories a host of family and friends.

Elroy Middleton

Elroy Middleton was born on November 1, 1929 in Thrall, Texas. He was the second child of Andrew and Gladys Middleton. He grew up in the Thrall, Taylor and Slaton area until entering the Army in 1948. Elroy loved to tell about his experiences in Korea and would often speak words in the language. He loved doing things outside; he often talked about growing up in the Valley area and working in the fields picking fruits and vegetables. He loved telling the children about his Indian heritage and the memories of his grandparents. After his discharge in 1954, Elroy set up residence in Houston with his brother and uncle. They were all employed at the same company for a short time before moving on to other endeavors.

Elroy loved cooking, his favorite being grilling. He would often grill briskets to help with fundraising events. He loved doing things with his hands, he would often be found taking apart items whether they needed repairing or not. He would spend hours outside working in the yard or in his “shed.” He was a hoarder, he didn’t want to throw anything away-telling the kids, I might need this later. He was a private person, who loved his family and was very protective.

Elroy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Surry-Middleton; his daughters, Brenda Johnson of Lubbock, Lillian Middleton Busby of Humble, Adrienne Middleton of Forney, Elicia Middleton-Phillips of Terrell; sons, Andrew Smith of Houston and Elroy Middleton, Jr. of Terrell. 22 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
