On Friday, April 9, 2021, Samuel Clyde Tumey Jr. was called home to be with our Lord at the age of 81. Sam was born to Samuel Clyde Tumey Sr. and Florence Lee Blackmon on September 18, 1939 in San Antonio, TX. Sam accomplished great things in his life. In 1958, at the age of 17, Sam joined the United States Navy. He also attended a farrier school, where Sam learned a trade that would lead him to one of his many passions of horse craftsmanship. Sam would have said that of all of his accomplishments, his family was his greatest.
Sam married the love of his life, Mary Louise (Babe as he called her) on October 21, 1966. Over the years they raised 7 children and traveled the U.S. having many exciting adventures together. Sam was many things; a family man, engineer, horse farrier, partner of C&S Quarter Horses and volunteer of countless San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeos.
Sam was a man not easily forgotten. He was known for his love and knowledge of horses, his firm handshake, and his unmistakable cowboy grit. Most of all, he was known for his compassionate heart and was admired and loved by many. He will be greatly missed.
