Virginia Sue Hornage, the daughter of the late Arthronel Pack Combs and Adora
Henderson Combs. Virginia was born in Cedar Grove Community in Kaufman
County and was the eighth child of ten. She had seven sisters and two brothers.
She accepted Christ at an early age. Virginia attended Gossip and Strip School in
Quinlan, TX. She graduated from Burnett High School in 1957. On March 24, 1964
she received a certificate at Texas Instrument of People of Asset Effectiveness
Program. In May of 1965 she received an Adult Education Civil Defense Certificate.
On July 4, 1962 she had a firecracker baby named Aaron.


At the age of nine years old Virginia received a special gift from God as a musician.
She started playing the old organ. Her mother took her to Terrell to take piano
lessons from Mrs. Ida Mae Thomas. The first church she played for was Highland
Baptist Church all while she was still a member of McIntyre Baptist Church. She
later joined Shiloh Baptist Church where she played there for over 45 years until
her health failed her. Besides playing the piano, Virginia loved to fish, sew, garden,
cook, bake the famous pound cakes with the apple on top and write poems. She
was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Leroy Hornage on March 23, 1972.


She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Adora and Pack Combs,
daughter, baby Scruggs, her loving husband, Leroy Hornage, Sr., seven sisters, Lillie
Mae, Lucy, Pearline, Edaniel (Nig), Liza, Hazel, Alma, two brothers, Bobby and Roy,
Hornage kids, Ruthy Mae, Dorothy Faye, LJ, Chubby, Leroy Jr., Hobert, Robert.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, one son, Aaron Scruggs; two
daughters, Evelyn (Bobby), and Patricia (James); one daughter in law, Jennifer
Scruggs; four grandchildren, Arthronel Scruggs (Shameika), Toya Scruggs, Danielle
Scruggs all of Terrell, Texas; Ashley Carrington (John) of Palm Harbour, Florida;
nine great grandchildren, Jarrius, Jakayla (Bacon), Brian, John 2, Jeremiah, Ja’Nielle
Adora, Jared Kane, Jaylen, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other
relatives and friends.
