Mary “Louise” Brumsey King was born February 7, 1942, in Terrell, Texas to the parentage of the late Leroy Sr. and Ellarine Blue Brumsey. She graduated 3 rd in her class from Burnett High School in 1960. She played basketball, the piano, trumpet, and clarinet. She attended Los Angeles Trade College in 1962. Louise, as she is affectionately known to everyone, was married to Travis King on March 16, 1967. Through this union three children were born.
Mary “Louise” worked at Terrell State Hospital as an aide, and later as a supervisor. She retired after 22 years of service. She worked at the Texas Workforce Solution 10 years after retiring from TSH.
Mary “Louise” was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. V.C. Coleman. Mary sang in the choir while growing up.
Mary “Louise” is preceded in death by her husband, Travis Dell King, her parents, Leroy Sr. and Ellarine Blue Brumsey, siblings, Henry Arthur “Sunny”, Leroy Jr., Glenn, and Brenda Brumsey.
She leaves to cherish her memories, sons, Kirk (Tammy) King, Miami, FL; Keishun King, Terrell, TX and daughter, Kathy Brumsey King, Terrell, TX; grandsons, Dr. Jay McCullar (Yolanda), who she raised like a son: Jammal McCullar; Jarrod McCullar (Leticia), Jaderrick McCullar; Darius, Dante, Keiundre, Keibrum, and Ka’Mauri King; granddaughters, Chelesa, Aleah, Keiamber, Kiara, and Ka’Morah King; fourteen great-grandchildren; three special nieces that she raised, Latasha, Lamica, and Aliyah Brumsey; brother Carlton Brumsey; sisters, Sarah Brumsey, Cecelia Willie, and Lynnette Brumsey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special life-long friends, Nadine Cathcart Fitzgerald, Annie Bowman Cathcart, and Bobbie Henderson.
